Hey yall - this is going to be similar to my last blog where I walk you through how I make each blanket, the difference is, this is a baby blanket.

I start by thinking of what length and width I want for the blanket.  In this particular case, I've decided to go with 3ft by 3ft. I add a foot on each side so I need 5ft long strings. For the width, if it's going to be 3ft, I need to cut 75-80 strings.  I space out my bar stools so they are 5ft apart and then start looping the yarn around them to make the strings.

Once I have all my strings wrapped around, I cut the strings in half so that they fold over into a loop.

The top part of the loop attaches to my loom.   I weave back and forth until I run out of room for the current section on my loom. I pull the strings through the part I just weaved and  re-attach them back to my loom. I repeat this over and over again until I reach the length of the blanket that I desire.  Next, I pull the strings all the way through, detaching from the loom, and lay them next to each other.

Then, I group 4 strings together, 2 in each hand, and tie the ends together so that the blanket will stay in tact.

I switch to the other side and tie those ends.

The last thing I do is I cut the strings on each end short enough so that it's both aesthetically pleasing and functional compared to the size of  the blanket.

This is for baby Ray and I can't wait to give it to him! It's really special to give a gift that is unique, heartfelt and will last someone a lifetime.
